10 Cloverfield Lane Trailer Breakdown: 15 Clues You Need To See
3. The Escape
And now for the big escape (at least, given how the trailer's structured, that's what we're suggested to be seeing). In (again by the clothes) the same scene as the one where Goodman smashes his fists down on the table, Winstead grabs one of the many beer bottles that have been littered about and smashes her captor on the head. With different lighting the door looks a lot different - less enticing and more drab. I wonder if the movie will play a bait-and-switch on a bigger scale; we're led to believe the bunker is this horrible prison, but it's actually the best place to be relative to the horrors of whatever's outside. The next moment certainly suggests so... "No, don't open that door. You're going to get all of us killed," screams Goodman as Winstead locks him in. This is a pretty big character realignment for the trailer and puts the movie right in line with that earlier synopsis - Goodman is only keeping the other two trapped to protect them (and himself) from whatever horror's outside.
