10 Comedians Who Pulled Out Awesome Acting Performances

8. Garry Shandling - The Larry Sanders Show

larry-sanders I'm not sure if it's considered cheating to include a TV show, but whatevs, I have to. The Larry Sanders Show is one of the greatest pieces of entertainment ever, and, of course, a lot of that has to do with Garry Shandling. Shandling, whose career started by writing for sitcoms, turned to stand-up in the late 70s, due to his frustration with the formula of said sitcoms. Along the way, Shandling decided to break that boring sitcom formula by creating It's Garry Shandling's Show for Showtime. The series starred Garry as himself, and it constantly broke the fourth wall, which made it one of the most insanely awesome things I've seen. It ran for four seasons, and when it was over, Shandling headed over to HBO, for another series (also known as, his masterpiece). This series turned out to be The Larry Sanders Show. Starring Shandling as the title character, Larry Sanders was a talk show host, and the actual show revolved around Larry's talk show, as well as his hilarious personal life. Make sense? Granted, Mr. Shandling wasn't trying to show everyone how good of an actor he was, but he did have chops, and he managed to create an iconic character.
