6. Larry David - Whatever Works
Remember earlier, when I said I wanted to include lesser known roles? This is one of them. Everyone knows David for Curb Your Enthusiasm, and it's easily his best work, but it wasn't until Woody Allen's Whatever Works that the actor got the chance to show his range. To be honest, I didn't know the film existed until recently, and I think that may be the case for a lot of people. I mean, the idea of a Woody Allen film with Larry David in the lead is irresistible. And, while the film isn't nearly as good as it could have been, it's certainly something to see. David plays Boris, a man who can only be described as unpleasant. You know, one of those characters that are really fun to watch, but you'd hate to know them in person? That's Boris. The final product is a sweet comedy from Allen, and it proves that Larry David can carry a film, given the right role. Basically, anything other than that awful Three Stooges movie. So yeah, I recommend Whatever Works, despite some critics disliking the film.
