10 Comic Actors Who Excelled In Serious Roles

6. Tyler Perry

TylerPerry If you watch TBS for about an hour, there's a good chance that you'll see a show that has Tyler Perry's name written all over it. That's because Tyler Perry is one of the best comedic producers alive today. He has been able to create a number of shows including Tyler Perry's House Of Payne, along with creating his famed Madea character that has been seen in a number of movies. In fact, in 2011, Forbes named him the highest paid man in entertainment, having earned over 130 million dollars in the span of a year with his shows and movies. Even with the success of his comedies though, Perry decided to try a more serious role in the 2012 film Alex Cross, where he plays the films title character, a pyschologist and police lieutenant in Detroit. Although the movie garnered horrible reviews, Perry was somewhat praised for his performance in a role that was generally unexpected of him, and it's an indication that he can do more of these kind of roles in the future.
