10 Comic Book Characters That Were Slaughtered By Hollywood

6. Daredevil

Netflix will be producing a 13 episode miniseries of Daredevil, attempting to remedy the abomination of Ben Affleck€™s portrayal of the character in 2003. Although that Daredevil was remarkably dark for its time, there is now a fertile foundation for a reinvention of the comic book favourite. We are yet to see what this series will look like, but we are hoping it is nowhere near as bad as the 2003 red leather clad hero; this was probably better than spandex, but there are superior ways of suiting up the hero- Nolan€™s armoured Dark Knight proved this, as did Singer€™s X-Men. Daredevil has the capacity to be Marvel€™s alternative to Batman, yet he has so far been sidelined as a minor hero who is unworthy of the fame and success of X-Men, Spider-Man and The Avengers. The Daredevil film has been criticised to the point where it is the prime example of what not to do when making a comic book film, but the complexity of the character was almost completely ignored. Daredevil is more than a good versus evil character; he is like punisher in that there is an internal struggle between vengeance, morality and the depravity of evil. These themes would make for a stunning film, where we would genuinely empathise with the titular hero, yet the 2003 film showed us little more than some choreographed fighting routines.
