4. Elektra (Elektra)

Here's a film that just about nobody had any decent expectations for, and suitably, the film lived down to that. We were already clued in that this film probably wouldn't be great after the disappointing treatment that Elektra had in Daredevil, being "killed off" and not really serving much of a narrative function at all other than for some cheeky banter between Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner. Though Garner is obviously gorgeous and suits the physical requirements of the role, she's a curiously bland presence here, largely because the script just doesn't know what to do with her character. Taking Frank Miller's hard-edged vision and cramming it into a PG-13 framework is the first misstep, meaning that the Elektra we get here is a completely neutered one not befitting the comic book counterpart whatsoever. Thankfully the film was critically panned and commercially unsuccessful, so Elektra just quietly bled out in the corner.
