Following a near-fatal snowplough accident earlier this year, Jeremy Renner is undoubtedly lucky to escape with his life. To quote Renner himself, “I’ve lost a lot of flesh and bone in this experience. But I’ve been refuelled and refilled with love and titanium.”

It’s reported that the actor broke upwards of 30 bones in his body. Yet, in the face of adversity, his spirit remains unbroken. It is miraculous just how fast Renner has recovered as he was back on his feet in what felt like no time at all.

Regardless of his astonishing recovery, don’t expect to see him return as Hawkeye anytime soon if ever again. Hawkeye, better known as Clint Barton as of late, has been a focal and ever-present figure within the MCU since his introduction dating back to 2011’s Thor, so his expected exit is a tough pill to swallow for fans and co-stars alike.

Renner will rightfully be prioritising his health and well-being for the foreseeable but you'd imagine the same determination he’s shown to recuperate will be replicated in his efforts to return as the character once again.

It’s understandably difficult to say goodbye to something so close to your heart, and Marvel faces a real conundrum with that to do with him. Barton’s role in Hawkeye on Disney+ saw him take a back seat with inevitable Young Avenger Kate Bishop being passed down the bow mantle per se. Although it may not last forever, there’s a good chance it might well do.
