10 Comic Book Movie Mistakes Confirmed By The Creators

6. Not Including Jane Foster - Thor: Ragnarok

There was a lot that needed changing in the Thor franchise when Taika Waititi stepped in to helm Ragnarok. The tone, the style, and the titular character were drastically different in the third outing, and there was one key piece of the previous two movies missing completely.

After playing Thor’s rarely more than a damsel-in-distress love interest for two movies, Natalie Portman stepped away from the franchise. Jane and the God of Thunder broke up off-screen, and there was not a second thought for her for the rest of the movie.

This is something that Waititi regrets, as Jane Foster was a huge part of the Jason Aaron run with Thor, in the comics that have inspired the director so much, and he always thought it would have been cool to bring her back.

Jane ultimately did return to the franchise under Waititi’s direction with Love and Thunder, and while her character was a marked improvement on her time in the first two movies, it was a small highlight in a largely poor movie. A return in Ragnarok may have been better in the long run.
