10 Comic-Book Movie Post-Credits Scenes That Weren't Worth Waiting For

9. Thor's Hammer (Iron Man 2)

One of the most disappointing things a post-credits scene can do is tell us something we already know.

Look at all the best ones; Nick Fury popping up at the end of Iron Man and announcing the Avengers Initiative, which was a surprise at the time; Captain America: Civil War's Wakanda-set stinger, which teased the look of the African nation while revealing that Cap and Bucky were safely holed up with Black Panther; and more recently, Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2's third mid-credits tidbit, which revealed that Adam Warlock will be playing a role in the MCU going forward.

Iron Man 2's post-credits scene did precisely the opposite. Thor's standalone movie was first announced back in 2008 after the roaring success of Iron Man, so to show us a shot of his hammer was, like the aforementioned Thanos scene, just another reminder that we had to wait even longer to actually get the movie.

Plus, people who didn't know that a Thor movie was coming may have been confused by this moment (just browse the top comments of the embedded video) since the name 'Thor' isn't actually mentioned.

To the uninitiated, this is just a random shot of a silver hammer stuck in the ground, with little context.
