10 Comic Book Movie Roles Matthew McConaughey Should Play

6. Captain America

All signs point to Chris Evans ducking out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe at some point in the near future, which begs the question: who will replace him as Captain America? If Civil War follows the comic and Steve Rogers is assassinated out of the role, he'll be replaced by Sebastian Stan's Bucky. Sam Wilson just became Cap in the comics, though. Anthony Mackie as Captain America would be a lot of fun on screen, but it would also be interesting to see Marvel take a different, far more obscure and less synergistic route. Like letting Matthew McConaughey play USAgent, the Southern super-soldier who replaced Steve Rogers back in the day. Georgian John Walker was created as the dark opposite number of the original Captain America we all know and love. Violent, bloodthirsty and jingoistic, Walker was everything some claim Steve Rogers to be. He was the main Cap for a good while, and provided a different perspective on the American dream. McConaughey would be perfect for that.
