5. Ghost Rider

Now again, much like Jonah Hex, Ghost Rider has appeared in movie form only recently. In fact there somehow managed to be two films about a biker reborn as the Devil's spirit of vengeance, complete with flaming skull atop his leather jacket. And he was played by Nicolas Cage in both. And the Crank directors did the second one. It was a mite insane. But Marvel managed to reboot and recast The Hulk three times in a ten-year period, and Sony are already gearing up for a whole new Spider-Man yet again, so perhaps starting over with Ghost Rider isn't out of the question. Especially if you ditch the superheroics and go full Southern Gothic €“ something McConaughey isn't averse to. The full sturm und drang emotional tragedy of Johnny Blaze has yet to be brought to proper life on the big screen, and you just know that if anybody can sell a flaming skull man as a viable lead, it's Matthew McConaughey. The rights have reverted to Marvel now, too, which means that he could be part of the MCU. And maybe even an Avenger...
