10 Comic Book Movie Villains Who Looked Great (But Sucked Anyway)

1. The Mandarin (Iron Man 3)

The terribly adapted version of the Mandarin in Iron Man 3 is one of the most talked about misfires in comic book movie history. In the build-up to the movie, we saw clips with Ben Kingsley portraying a character fairly reminiscent of the comic book Mandarin (albeit clearly not Chinese), in grand robes and big, bulky rings on each finger. He looked fantastic and expectations for a great and somewhat faithful portrayal were high. But that didn't happen. What actually happened was that Kingsley was portraying an actor within the movie - an actor playing a character to hide the fact that the real Mandarin was Guy Pearce's Aldrich Killian, a man with Extremis powers who ran a rival company to Stark Industries called A.I.M. There has never been a more disappointing comic book movie villain and, after the build-up showed him with so much promise, it was a real kick in the face for expectant fans. So there you have it - ten comic book movie villains who looked great (but sucked anyway). Did you enjoy this article? Do you agree with the entries on this list?
