10 Comic Book Movie Villains Who Looked Great (But Sucked Anyway)

10. Whiplash (Iron Man 2)

Although it's not far off, Iron Man 2 is by no means the worst movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it was certainly the most disappointing and is definitely the worst of the Iron Man movies. One of the reasons for that was a very boring and one-dimensional villain with no substance. Mickey Rourke did his best with Ivan Vanko AKA Whiplash, but the material just wasn't there. Rourke himself wasn't pleased with it and had this to say (backhandedly) about the matter:
If they let you play the bad guy with other dimensions other than one dimensional. You have to fight for that though, to bring layers to the character. Otherwise, if you're working for the wrong studio or let's say a director that doesn't have any balls, then they're just gonna want it to be the evil bad guy.
That said, he looked great - every bit as good as Iron Man himself. The powered armour was accompanied by striking electric whips and if the characterisation had matched the aesthetics it would have been great!
