10 Comic Book Movie Villains Who Were Universally Loved
2. Tom Hiddleston's Loki
Only the second entrant on this particular list from the ongoing Marvel Cinematic Universe continuity, the character of Loki has been the highlight of the entire continuity thus far along with Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark - and that's saying something, given the success of it as a whole. Hiddlestone's Loki has shown signs of good and clear signs of evil, making him a complex and interesting character that everybody can relate to in some way. He has been the traitorous brother in Thor, the antagonist that led an alien army (the Chitauri) to attack the Earth in The Avengers and the hero who sacrificed himself in Thor: The Dark World (before, again, acting up and dethroning Odin in Asgard). He is cunning and manipulative, whilst also possessing the physical prowess to stand up to his brother Thor in combat, making him a multi-layered threat to whoever opposes him. And the best thing about it; there's still a lot more to come from Hiddleston as Loki. There's still time for him to redeem himself once more and there's still time for him to sink even lower. It is that ambiguity which makes the character so deep and enthralling and Hiddleston's conveyance of those traits should be applauded massively.
