10 Comic Book Movie Villains Who Were Universally Loved
7. Alfred Molina's Doctor Octopus
Many people think that Spider-Man 2 is still the best and most faithful comic book movie to date (it's certainly up there with the likes of Iron Man and Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy) - and that is largely due to Alfred Molina's brilliant performance as the tentacled villain Doctor Octopus. Seriously, try to imagine anyone else in the role and the movie takes a massive hypothetical nosedive in quality in your head. He was perfect and it's just a shame that he was defeated and that the franchise ended, because it would have been great to see more of him. Starting out as a caring and conscientious scientist and mentor to Peter Parker, his descent in to madness and struggles to deal with his new predicament once his mechanical appendages started to take control was fantastic - and he also presented a genuine threat to the titular hero, which is something that an awfully high number of comic book movies lack.
