10 Comic Book Movie Villains Who Were Universally Loved
4. Terence Stamp's Zod
Terence Stamp's iconic portrayal of the power-crazed Kryptonian military general turned war criminal, General Zod, in Superman I and Superman II will forever live in the memories of superhero movie fans everywhere. He was the first major depiction of a comic book villain in a Hollywood movie and is still one of the best to this day. Stamp conveys an imposing and authoritative version of the character who arrives on Earth (or "Planet Houston" as he humorously and mistakenly called it initially) with his minions Ursa and Non and quickly seeks to rule it, even making the President of the United States of America kneel before him to get his kicks. Easily trampling on anyone who dares stand in his way, including the brunt of the United States military and their arsenal of weapons, it is left to Christopher Reeve's Superman to tackle this trio of fellow Kryptonians and save the world which he eventually does, but not before a very tough fight against the only individuals who are capable of standing up to him.
