Toward the beginning of this article, Captain Marvel was referenced as the first of just two movies included that enjoyed a better reaction from critics than from audiences. The second came back in 2003, with Ang Lee’s iteration of the Hulk.

Right now, the Hulk is an iconic mainstay of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but has still never been able to enjoy that one, defining solo movie. The Incredible Hulk is the black sheep of the family, and just five years before that the previous version just didn’t do it for audiences either.

With the 2003 Hulk, Bruce Banner himself was cited as being boring, the movie contained too much dialogue and not enough action, particularly when you consider the beast it is centered upon, and the run time was unforgivable. 29% is by far the lowest audience score you will find on this list.

While the critics didn’t love it enough for a Certified Fresh rating, 62% is considerably more than audiences deemed it deserving of. Even if it didn’t always pay off, Lee at least tried to elevate the movie above a straight-up, by the numbers comic book adaptation.
