A lot of the more extravagant superhero films out there do a great job in relishing in the fact that they are superhero movies. For as amazing as something like Avengers: Endgame is, you can't blame those who aren't completely sold on the comic book aspect for not really identifying with everything going on on the screen. When it comes to your favorite wallcrawler though, Jon Watts turned in a Spider-Man film for the ages with Homecoming.
When put up against the rest of the movies in the MCU, this stands as one of the tightest stories ever made.
Though we had gotten to know bits and pieces about Tom Holland's Peter Parker in Captain America: Civil War, this refreshing take on the MCU formula is just a teen comedy that happens to feature a guy who spins webs.
Instead of worrying about the fate of the universe, a lot of the empathy comes from Peter trying to balance his more human elements, like trying to ask his crush out while trying to prove his heroic abilities to Tony Stark.
At the end of the day, the stakes of this movie might not be as great as the rest of the MCU, but they still feel earth-shattering because of how grounded they are.
The Avengers might feel like the ultimate superpowered team, Homecoming proves why Peter Parker is really the hero for everyone.
