10 Comic Book Movies Hollywood Didn't Have The Balls To Make

Of all the comic book movies that Hollywood haven't had the balls to make, Planet Hulks feels like the one that everyone has been hankering to see most. Yet despite the huge desire for a Planet Hulk film, Marvel have remained silent on the matter (presumably masking their fear of mounting such an ambitious project).

Planet Hulk's premise is inherently tricky: after proving too much of a threat to humanity, the superheroes of Earth decide to banish the Hulk. He's exiled to space, where he crash lands on an alien planet and is forced to fight in an area as a gladiator until he eventually breaks free and becomes king. It's an epic story, and one that Hollywood can't seem to fathom due to its sheer scope, coupled with the fact that the Hulk - not Bruce Banner - is the main character, and it's set in space.

That said, the upcoming MCU flick Thor: Ragnarok has visible shades of Planet Hulk in its DNA, so at least there's a small chance that the events of that movie could lead into the surprise announcement of a proper Planet Hulk movie.

In all likelihood, though, Ragnarok is the closest that we'll ever get to seeing a fully-fledged Planet Hulk flick, because Marvel remain unconvinced that the Hulk is a profitable enough character when he's flying solo. The Incredible Hulk is the lowest-grossing MCU flick date, after all, and the character - as Joss Whedon once stated - is "the most difficult Marvel property."
