10 Comic Book Movies That Could Have Been Saved With A Single Tweak

6. Not Casting Michael Cera - Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World

Michael Cera was wrong for Scott Pilgrim. Whereas he was required to be something of dorky slacker, Cera's take on the character rendered Pilgrim as a big, annoying sissy. Over the course of the otherwise good (but not great) flick, it's apparent that the actor doesn't really know how to "play" Scott, and pretty much chooses to employ his usual schtick with flashes of "badassery," which just feel wrong coming from Cera. As a result of Cera's casting, then, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World makes for an awkward watching experience. Because he so desperately fails to take command of the screen, and - worst of all - has zero chemistry with love interest Mary Elizabeth Winstead, things feel unsettled. Which doesn't bode well for a motion picture built around the concept of somebody trying to win over a girl he adores by fighting her evil ex-boyfriends.
