6. Black Widow

When it came to the Avengers movie in 2012, there were six members of the titular team; Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye. Of those characters, Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and Hulk had all already been given at least one of their own movies in order to grant them back-stories and introduce them to audiences prior to their inclusion in the ensemble movie. Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow, however, missed out. She had already been seen as a supporting character in Iron Man 2, but very little was said about her history and she has since also appeared in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. She is set to appear in the next movie - Avengers: Age of Ultron - and beyond that in the recently announced Phase 3 movies and it was a disappointment to many that they didn't include a solo movie for her. She is such a key character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that it's very strange that she hasn't had her own outing yet.
