5. Hawkeye

Like Black Widow, Hawkeye was one of the Avengers who had previously not been given a movie before he appeared in the team's ensemble movie. Unlike Black Widow, he hadn't even been given a proper supporting appearance in a movie. He had been limited to a very brief cameo in the first Thor movie and audiences who weren't familiar with the comic books literally knew nothing of the character when he first appeared as a member of the superhero team. Moreover, for much of that film, he was being controlled by Loki and it wasn't until the final battle that Jeremy Renner's character appeared as "himself". With that in mind, he has been very underdeveloped and isn't getting his own film any time soon. On top of the fact that his comic is one of the best being published at the moment and that fans were clearly miffed at his treatment in the Avengers movie, that really is a surprise.
