While Marvel's most recent event books (*cough* SECRET EMPIRE *cough*) have been rather bad, Avengers: No Surrender has actually been rather good. It's made for an engaging tale for the most part, and while the Infinity Gems are set to assume the crux of Marvel's next event, one would hope that No Surrender doesn't get lost in the conversation.

No Surrender is a genuine blockbuster, and though it hasn't benefited from Marvel's current circumstances, where event fatigue has become a frequent concern, it's stood out as one of the publisher's best books. That largely comes down to the way in which it addresses history, and while the history of the comic book Avengers differs greatly to that of their cinematic counterparts, the premise of No Surrender could yet influence a new Avengers film.

This isn't to say that an explicit adaptation would be appropriate for the MCU, but there are certain thematic elements of the story that would lend themselves well to an MCU that's further along than it is currently. As far as descriptions go - yes - this is fairly abstract, but it's difficult to quantify what No Surrender gets right.

It's expansive, wonderful, and captures a profound sense of adventure that's been missing from most event comics as of late. Capturing that vibe for the big-screen would be equally as brilliant.
