4. Fantastic Four (2015)
What a disaster! And yet, for a while, the majority of fans genuinely believed that this - a cinematic reboot of The Fantastic Four from the talented director of Chronicle - would help to wipe any memories anyone still had leftover from those Godawful Chris Evans and Jessica Alba Fantastic Four travesties. What nobody expected, however, was that Josh Trank would (or could) produce something that - fairly considered - is actually worse. You can understand why the hype train initially got into full gear for this movie, of course: Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan and Jamie Bell, some of the finest young actors in Hollywood, cast as the titular four; that grittier, more realistic aesthetic; a script co-written by Josh Trank and X-Men: Days Of Future Past's Simon Kinberg. What could go wrong? Somehow, though, Fantastic Four barely manages to be a motion picture; the majority of the film is utilised for backstory and building up to the main characters getting their powers, and then - after a 15-minute "incident" - it's all over. "What the hell was the point of waiting for that movie?" thought everyone who laid eyes upon it, baffled and bewildered. "There was literally zero reason to get hyped up about that!" Zero reason? Try less than zero.
