10 Comic Book Movies That Got MULTIPLE Characters Wrong

8. Iron Man 3

Batman & Robin Villains
Paramount Pictures

Two words: Trevor Slattery. With that one name, the MCU dropped the ball on one of Iron Man's most fearsome villains. We're not treading any new ground here by dragging Ben Kinglsey's character through more mud, so lets move on...

Can we talk about the Iron Man suit as a character? Because "Mark 42" has to be the worst thing Tony Stark has ever created. It hardly works, falls apart with a light breeze, attacks Pepper (although yes it saves her too), and the P.O.S. can’t seem to stay charged (why does it need to be charged if he's got the arc reactor??). Just because you keep saying it's a “prototype” does not mean that Tony would ever invent something that unreliable.

Guy Piece plays Aldrich Killian, but really he's a mashup of multiple characters and barely resembles the lowly scientist who kills himself because of guilt. There's a lot of weird choices made for Pepper, Happy, and Rhodey that their characters never would have done under Favreau. Shane Black comes with a lot of writing credibility from Lethal Weapon, The Nice Guys, and Last Action Hero, but should never touch another comic book property again.

While excuses are made for Tony suffering from PTSD throughout the film, this is literally the dumbest version of Tony we've seen. His decisions make no sense, from inviting an attack on his home and not having a defense ready, to creating and blowing up a bunch of barely HAMMER-quality mech-suits. Then to "fix" his heart in surgery that was never supposed to be possible and have him act like he's going to retire from being Iron Man when we all know there's more Avengers movies coming? Let's all just take a moment to appreciate the Russo brothers again.
