10 Comic Book Movies That Should Have Been R-Rated

7. Hancock

Hancock Hancock is a film absolutely screaming out for an R-rating, as evidenced by the fact that director Peter Berg had so much trouble getting it passed at PG-13. The film, which depicts Will Smith as the titular drunk, feckless superhero, constantly teases at a harder edge, and as such it's clear that the film has been sliced to bits just to secure more money. The original title was Tonight He Comes, a not-so-sly reference to a scene that was eventually deleted from the film, whereby Hancock ejaculates, and the resulting substance blows a hole through the roof of his home. Ahead of its July 2008 release, the film was slapped with an R-rating twice by the MPAA, with Berg noting that, "We had statutory rape up until three weeks ago". Aside from this, the scenes of Hancock flying and driving drunk proved problematic for the ratings board, making it clear that this thing really ended up nothing like its originally intended product.
