10 Comic Book Movies That Survived Behind The Scenes Turmoil

8. The Director Hating The Star - Batman Forever

Though he had previously been impressed by the actor€™s work, Batman Forever director Joel Schumacher eventually came to regret hiring Val Kilmer in the eponymous role but then that€™s something that seems to happen with many people that work with the notoriously difficult star. Reportedly the pair butted heads over everything from Kilmer€™s character lacking depth to his €˜irrational and ballistic€™ behaviour with crew members, resulting in a two week long huff during which the star didn€™t utter a word to the director (though Schumacher would later describe this period as €˜bliss€™). Apparently Schumacher has gotten over their feud though: in 2011 he admitted that Kilmer was his favourite Batman saying, €˜I thought he looked great in the costume, and I thought he brought a depth to the role.€™ Wonder what Christian Bale and Ben Affleck have to say about that? The Results: In comparison to Batman & Robin, Forever is a masterpiece, but next to Burton's films and later Nolan's it suffered by association.
