10 Comic Book Spin-Offs Of Iconic Horror Franchises

As one of the more outlandish ideas in horror history, the diminutive killer doll seems like a shoe-in for a long and varied career in comic books. But while the psychopath formerly known as Charles Lee Ray has certainly had his moments, none so far have fulfilled that potential.

The most notable of Chucky's comic book adventures came during the period between Child's Play 2 and its sequel (imaginatively titled Child's Play 3). This 5 issue miniseries, published in 1991 by Innovation - also titled Child's Play - details Chucky's antics between the movies, largely in one-shot standalone adventures.

Between that and adaptations of the movies, Chucky wasn't exactly kept busy, and wouldn't return properly until 2007 - in Brian Pulido's entertaining 'Chucky', published by Devil's Due (which sees Chucky seeking vengeance upon a grown-up Andy Barclay, years before the films picked that nugget up for themselves again).

Unlike most of the others here, however, Chucky doesn't really need the publicity of his own comic book series - his own movie franchise doing considerably better than the rest in both critical and fan acclaim. That's more than we can say for Freddy, Jason or Michael these days. Who saw that one coming?
