9. Omega Red
The Americans have their super soldier in Steve Rogers better known as Captain America. The Germans have their super soldier in Red Skull. Even the Canadians have Wolverine. Omega Red is Russias version of the super soldier. Omega Red is a mutant like Wolverine, and in addition to having superhuman strength, speed, stamina, and an accelerated healing factor, he has the ability to secrete Death Spores that drain the life force of anyone that they touch. Also like Wolverine, he had metal implanted in his arms, but his are in the form of long retractable tentacles. These tentacles can be used as a conduit for the Death Spores to significantly increase his range. His tentacles are made of Carbonadium, which is a less durable but more malleable type of Adamantium (the metal bonded to Wolverines skeleton). Although Carbonadium is weaker than Adamantium, it is still vastly stronger than steel and nearly indestructible. Carbonadium is also highly radioactive and the tentacles within his body slowly poison him, forcing him to use his Death Spores to drain the life force of others in order to sustain his own life. A device known as the Carbonadium Synthesizer can stabilise the effects of the Carbonadium poisoning, but it was stolen by Wolverine, Sabretooth and Agent Zero back when they were Team X. For years Omega Red has sought out these individuals in order to get information on the location of the Carbonadium Synthesizer. Omega Red appeared in the 90s X-Men animated series and X-Men: Evolution animated series and has also appeared more recently in the Hulk Vs Wolverine animated feature and the Wolverine anime series. Likelihood of appearing:
The 2009 X-Men Origins: Wolverine film would have been the perfect opportunity to introduce Omega Red in that it showed Wolverines time with Team X, but that was not to be. It is very unlikely that Omega Red will be in The Wolverine as the film is set to be released this year with no word on the casting of Omega Red. Omega Red could make an appearance in a future X-Men film, but it is unlikely that he will appear in X-Men: Days of Future Past given that the cast is already very crowded and that Omega Red was not at all a part of the original story on which the film is loosely based. Omega Red is one of Wolverines fiercest rivals, standing alongside the likes of Sabretooth, Lady Deathstrike and Silver Samurai, all of whom have (or will soon have) appeared in film. As long as Wolverine keeps appearing in film it is only a matter of time before Omega Red makes his appearance.
