10 Comic Stories You Should Read Before Phase 3 Of The Marvel Cinematic Universe

2. The Infinity Gauntlet

Marvel seems to be playing fast and loose with their film titles, for if you refer to the comics, The Infinity War is the second instalment of an €œInfinity trilogy€, which consists of €œThe Infinity Gauntlet€, €œThe Infinity War€, and €œThe Infinity Crusade€. Because all three of these stories are chronologically connected, Marvel Studios must establish some of the events of The Infinity Gauntlet first. And though there are two cinematic instalments to the Avengers: Infinity War, the story of The Infinity Gauntlet is big enough for two films. Written by Jim Starlin and drawn by George Perez, The Infinity Gauntlet is a direct sequel to Starlin€™s Thanos Quest, which was mentioned earlier in this list. The Infinity Gauntlet is by far the most iconic and important Thanos story in the Marvel canon, as it chronicles the implications of Thanos€™s rise to godhood. What little information that has been revealed about Thanos within the Marvel CU has led to the conclusion that the Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 & 2 will focus on Thanos and the Infinity Gems. Both Thanos Quest (including the prequel) and The Infinity Gauntlet deal directly with this story. And though the films will be called €œInfinity War€, the comic series €œThe Infinity War€ does not focus on Thanos but rather another character named Adam Warlock. This implies that Marvel Studios chose to use the title €œInfinity War€ for marketing purposes. But hey €“ if you€™d rather be safe than sorry, go ahead and read the whole trilogy.

Since childhood, Bryant has been an avid fan of superheroes, and he has been reading comic books since 2006. His full name is "George Bryant Lucas"; however, after enduring countless Darth Vader jokes, he has chosen to go by his middle name. Born and raised in the United States, Bryant is currently living with his lovely wife in the country side of Wiltshire County, UK. Bryant does suffer from a mild case of dyslexia; misspellings and homonyms are to be expected on occasion.
