10 Completed Movies You Will Never See

6. Batman Dracula

Batman Dracula
Andy Warhol

Although Andy Warhol is renowned for his visual style and popularising pop art, not a lot of people know he was also a filmmaker. Even though he directed dozens of features, his most famous film is Batman Dracula. Being a huge fan of the Dark Knight, Warhol put together a black-and-white movie where Bats battles the Transylvanian Count.

But since he didn't get permission from DC Comics, the company prevented the adaptation from being distributed. Although some clips can be viewed in the documentary, Jack Smith and the Destruction of Atlantis, Batman Dracula can no longer be viewed in its entirety.

Despite never being officially released, Warhol's adaptation is a pretty big deal, since it was the first Batman film ever made. It also popularised the idea of the Gotham vigilante facing off against the iconic vampire. (In fact, a separate movie called Batman Fights Dracula was released three years later in The Philippines!)

Not only has the cowled detective gone on to encounter Dracula repeatedly in the comics, but Warhol's work inspired an animated feature called Batman Vs Dracula in 2005. As an added bonus, this Batman Dracula movie actually got released!
