7. The Wicked Witch of the West in The Wizard of Oz (1939)
Just because she is Green it doesn't make her Mean! Let's recap on what 'crime' she actually committed: After Dorothy's house crushed her sister Good Witch of the North, all she wanted to do was claim her sisters powerful ruby slippers. It could have been a family heirloom that had been passed down through generations of witches. It has nothing to do with Dorothy, who decides to keep them for herself! If that happened to me I to would warn her by saying "I'll get you, my pretty...and your little dog, too!" before vanishing mysteriously too. In fact, Gregory Maguire's novel (and now successful Broadway musical) 'Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West' focuses on the story of Elphaba who becomes Wicked Witch of the West. A great insight on the nature of good and evil and how people can be seriously misunderstood due to sheer ignorance. A great read and just as inspiring to watch on stage! Highly recommended.

As a one-of-a-kind twenty-something film fanatic and culture vulture... I have a 1st Class Honours degree in English Literature with Film Studies & Media Cultures. Along with recently completing MA by Research in Film Studies, I aspire to be a film critic and yearn for the opportunity to roll around on the red carpet (with or without Christian Bale in his Batsuit). Always openly embracing films of all genres and nations, although anything Studio Ghibli related will always have a place in my heart. Believes normality is overrated!
