Fans have widely ridiculed Judge Dredd for its clear misinterpretation of the characters of Mega City One. Sylvester Stallone in the titular role wasn't even the worst part of the movie (arguably), which was complete with flashy costumes (designed by Gianni Versace, for some reason) and a plodding storyline that failed to connect with the die hard fans of the character or the general movie-going public. This film was made even more unbearable by the recent release of Pete Travis' fantastic reboot Dredd, starring Karl Urban, which has developed a huge online following despite a disappointing theatrical release. While the entire film is steeped in controversy, there was one unforgivable act. Even worse than the inclusion of Rob Schneider, who surprisingly provides the only entertainment in the film, is the removal of Judge Dredd's helmet, which is something that has never occurred in the comics. Hey, I get it, you paid for Sylvester Stallone's face, you want to see Sylvester Stallone's face. But by doing so you remove one of the standing themes of Judge Dredd, which is his station as the faceless agent of the law. Even his catchphrase of "I am the Law" (which sounded terrible coming from Stallone) lost all credibility without the unforgiving visage of his helmet.
