The dream of a Silver Surfer movie has been on the minds of fans for years, and with the announcement that a sequel to the Fantastic Four film would be called Rise of the Silver Surfer, fans thought their dream had come true. Especially when considering the other character that goes hand in hand with the Sky-Rider of the Spaceways. His creator, the planet-eater known as Galactus. Galactus has been a threat to the Fantastic Four, the Earth, and the rest of the Marvel Universe since his creation by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in Fantastic Four #48, so needless to say fans were pretty excited by his looming appearance in Rise of the Silver Surfer. And then we sat through a disappointing movie only to be rewarded by one of the worst villain reveals in comic book movie history. Galactus was a cloud. The destroyer of worlds was apparently nothing but a menacing crosswind, as opposed to the gigantic purple dude with the insatiable appetite fans were hoping for. Obviously some changes to the source material are expected, especially when dealing with the believably of a giant purple alien who eats planets, but a shapeless cloud with the smallest hint in shadows of what we actually wanted to see just didn't cut it.
