10 Controversial Movie Scenes That Were Cut Before Release
2. Bond Literally Clocks Them In The Face - Casino Royale
Casino Royale gave the franchise the shot in the arm it desperately needed following Die Another Day, and cemented Daniel Craig as one of the best Bond's. While the film isn’t particularly graphic, the wince-inducing torture scene left many men in the audience crossing their legs instinctively.
The film also removed a lot of the key Bond tropes, so Moneypenny and Q were absent, and Bond had no magical watches to help. That said, the film originally contained a subversion of the classic watch tricks that also played homage to the books. In the Ian Fleming novels Bond wasn’t above using his watch as a makeshift knuckle duster, and in Casino Royale’s climax Bond was supposed to hook his Omega watch around his fist and go to town on some henchmen.
This was filmed and if you look closely you can still see the watch on his fist. It was removed for several reasons, including Omega being uncomfortable with their product being used as a weapon, and Sony fearing younger fans might try to imitate it.
