Rob Zombie’s Halloween remake was controversial for any number of reasons, including the fact it was rebooting a classic. This prequel/reboot has its defenders, but overall reaction was mixed. Zombie made no secret of his wrestling with producers over the tone of the movie, and after negative test screenings he was forced to reshoot some scenes.

The main complaint in the screenings was a cruel rape scene halfway through, where asylum guards bring a female patient into Michael Myers cell and assault her. Michael ignores this until they start touching his masks, which causes him to kill the guards and escape.

Test audiences found the scene too grim, so it was replaced with a silly sequence where Michael is suddenly given a transfer the night before Halloween. It makes no real sense, but it's better than the needlessly nasty alternative.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
