10 Cool-Sounding Upcoming Movies That We Really Don’t Need

10. Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them

Why It Sounds Cool: Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them continues Warner Bros. desire to turn even the most scant source material into an epic trilogy. Unlike The Hobbit, however, this Harry Potter spin-off comes straight from the source. Inspired by a fake school book written by J.K. Rowling to tie into the Harry Potter world, Fantastic Beasts sees the series creator herself writing the script and keen to expand upon the wizarding world. Following in-world author Newt Scamander and his adventures compiling the tome, installments of the trilogy will be released in 2016, 2018 and 2020. Why We Don't Really Need It: When she finished The Deathly Hallows J.K. Rowling said she was done with Harry Potter, keen to move onto different things. Despite dabbling in more adult areas, this has proven ultimately a false claim; initially through Pottermore and now with the move to cinema it's clear she's not leaving Hogwarts any time soon. There's nothing inherently wrong with that - she clearly knows a lot about the world - but the whole trilogy expansion whacks of Warner Bros. desperate to have a Potter-level box office draw again. David Yates, who directed the final four films of the Harry Potter series, is returning to the director's chair, so expect a painfully dark image along with all this.
