Ripped Off: Misery

Balu Mahendra is one of the trailblazers in South Indian cinema, especially Tamil Cinema, who is renowned for his storytelling and character development. However his film Julee Ganapathy is famous for another reason.

Julee Ganapathy tells the story of a television writer who gets into an accident, and is found and nursed back to the health by a woman who claims to be his number one fan. The woman, Julee Ganapathi, is a big fan of the TV series that the writer produces and when she reads the last few episodes of the series, she is disappointed and saddened by how it ends.

Just as in Misery, we discover that she is unhinged as she cruelly tortures and forces the writer to rewrite the ending to his show to meet her liking. The writer, in response, tries to escape from his number 1 fan with his life intact.

Yep, that's just Misery, isn't it?
