10 Craziest Movie Directors

2. Stanley Kubrick

stanley-kubrick Stanley Kubrick is well-known for his perfectionist personality, but his borderline nearosis was justified by his remarkable streak of masterpieces. There are numerous stories of actors saying that Kubrick was impossible to work with, most notably on the set of The Shining as bth Jack Nicholson and Shelley Duvall were driven inside by his obsessivenes. He broke Duvall down to tears as she became distressed at the ludicrously high number of takes she was forced to endure, and that isn't the only story of the late director mistreating his actors. Kirk Douglas doesn't have a good thing to say about him, and said that his ego was out of control as he valued his personal vision over collaborating with his fellow artists. Kubrick's craziness is slightly different to other directors on this list as he had no eccentric or death-defying adventures, he was just the most obsessive perfectionist to ever step on a movie set. Kubrick was also famous for visiting random cinemas to ensure that his movie were being projected correctly - he was that obsessed with every little detail. Every tine thing that happened in a Stanley Kubrick movie was dictated by the man himself - whether it was dubbing, music, location, editing and even distribution as he pulled A Clockwork Orange from circulation in the UK amid fears of copycat crimes. It's safe to say there is nobody quite like Stanley Kubrick.
