10 Crazy End-Credits Scenes That Completely Messed With Your Head

1. Monty Python And The Holy Grail

holygrail In true Python fashion, the end credits to this film both amuse and annoy in equal measure. Yet there can surely be no denying that they are some of the most iconic credits sequences ever crafted? Consider the opening credits: a solemn black-and-white affair with striking music and faux-Swedish subtitles not so much running alongside the title sequence as starting a new topic altogether. Around halfway through, the music dies and a message pops onscreen informing us that '' we apologise for the fault in the subtitles. Those responsible have been sacked''. Never above flogging a dead horse, another message informs us that ''those responsible for sacking the people who have just been sacked, have been sacked''. You can see why Monty Python so divides an audience. Not content with slinging convention out of the window so soon, they likewise end the film on a rather anarchic (and some might say anticlimactic) note. Having crossed the bridge, the Knights are finally set to storm the Grail castle- only for the police to arrive and arrest King Arthur (Graham Chapman) and Sir Bedevere (Terry Jones) for crimes committed earlier in the film. Amongst the scuffle, an officer knocks the film out of the camera and thus brings the film to an abrupt end. There follows a black screen accompanied by a few minutes of organ music. And that's it.
