10 Creepiest Child Villains In Horror Movies
3. Brandon Breyer - Brightburn
Brightburn begins with a couple from Kansas finding an alien spaceship which houses an extra-terrestrial that resembles a human baby. They decide to hide the spacecraft in their barn and raise the child, who they name Brandon. As he grows older, Brandon develops superpowers including flight, superstrength, and optic blasts. When his adopted parents learn this, they implore Brandon to only use his powers for good.
So far, so very Superman. However, that is where the similarities with the Man of Steel end.
Corrupted by his spaceship, Brandon becomes increasingly unstable during his teenage years. When a girl in his class unfairly calls him a pervert, he lashes out, crushing her hand. As he is perceived more and more like an outcast, Brandon's descent into supervillainy seems guaranteed. Before long, he dons his own costume, taking on the name, Brightburn, and begins slaughtering anyone who crosses his path, including his parents.
The scariest thing about this concept is that if a child had Brandon's power, it's a lot more likely they would turn out like Brightburn rather than Superman. Maybe Lex Luthor had a point all this time.
