10 Creepiest Scary Moments In Kid-Friendly Movies

9. Fidget's Kidnap - The Great Mouse Detective

Disney

There was a time when Disney was the only game in town for entertainment (sound familiar), so when Disney decided they wanted scares in their children's films, audiences had no choice but to watch through their fingers during Mufasa's death, Bambi's mother being shot, and any number of traumatizing moments.

But who could possibly expect to be frightened by The Great Mouse Detective, a sweet animal adaptation of the Sherlock Holmes story?

The first clue should have been that the villain Ratigan was voiced by horror icon Vincent Price (and that character is indeed disturbing in many moments). But the big scare in the movie comes early on, when Fidget the Bat ruins a little mouse's birthday by kidnapping her toymaker father. It's the inciting incident of the story, and boy does it leave its mark!
