3. Roland Emmerich
Okay, so I can't deny that I have a bit of a bias when it comes to the directors on this list. Most of them have done decent films, or at least films that I found enjoyable. And Roland Emmerich is one of the directors on here that has done films that I found enjoyable, at least as far as his 90's movies are concerned (I'm one of the few that actually liked Godzilla). But, I'll also be the first to admit that his films in the aughts have taken quite the nosedive in terms of quality. I, along with most people on the net, was not too fond of The Day After Tomorrow, 10,000 BC or 2012. So believe me, I understand the hate that Emmerich receives. But the truth is, I think Roland Emmerich could make good movies like Stargate or Independence Day again if he just tapped into whatever inspired him to make those movies in the first place. Sure, the special effects in his disaster flicks are top notch, but the stories suffered because of that. There's proof in his filmography that he can balance the CGI with decent stories, so I can't hate him. And everyone else should also stop pretending to.
