10 Critically Reviled Sci-Fi Movies (That Weren't Actually That Bad)
4. Batman & Robin

Critics Consensus: "Joel Schumacher's tongue-in-cheek attitude hits an unbearable limit in Batman & Robin resulting in a frantic and mindless movie that's too jokey to care much for."
Look, you've every right to hate Batman & Robin for killing Warner Bros.' iconic Batman film saga, but if by some small chance you're willing to let that go (it has been two decades, people), you might end up seeing the 1997 film in a completely different light.
The truth is that George Clooney's Caped Crusader is more George Clooney than Bruce Wayne, but that actually adds to the sheer lunacy of the balls-to-the-wall pantomime going on around him. He's not taking it seriously, so why the heck should we?
It couldn't be further from the grim world that Tim Burton introduced us to in his classic broody 1989 flick, but there's an admirable quality in the fact that it doesn't even try to be anything like it - which is good, because it was never going to be anywhere near as good as that.
Batman & Robin's true greatness lies in the fact that its just one big unapologetic hoot after another. A Batman '66 for the modern day that isn't even remotely dignified in, well, anything really, it's a bonkers bonanza full of Bat-nipples, ice puns and Arnold Schwarzenegger. What more could you want really?
Go on... give it another a chance. Wouldn't it be ice?
Too soon?
