10 Cult Horror Films With Memorable Titles

8. Death Bed: The Bed That Eats (1977)

220px-Death_Bed-_The_Bed_That_Eats_FilmPoster Yes it is a bed. Yes it eats people - it does exactly what it says in the title. It is a four poster bed that is possessed. This happened when a demon tree turned into a demonic breeze (!) and brushed past a woman and fell in love with her. The demon then turned into a man and had sex with that lucky lady on the four poster bed. The woman dies during sex and the demon's eyes bleed. The bed thus becomes haunted and passes hands frequently, literally consuming its inhabitants. It also demonstrates psychic powers and intelligence. The idea of a killer bed is a silly premise - not even I with my lame fear of inanimate objects coming to life find the film scary. I was instead rather amused by how the bed was able to keep itself spotless looking all the time - no mussed sheets or bloodstains. The film is a definite cult curio. It's not particularly 'good' compared to other cult films but it has its unique charms and is much more interesting than The Nostril Picker and Stuff Stephanie in the Incinerator. Granted it is only me and a handful of other people who enjoy trash like this. It is interesting trash rather than downright garbage trash. It treads a fine line between the two but ultimately there is enough here for B Movie lovers to enjoy.

My first film watched was Carrie aged 2 on my dad's knee. Educated at The University of St Andrews and Trinity College Dublin. Fan of Arthouse, Exploitation, Horror, Euro Trash, Giallo, New French Extremism. Weaned at the bosom of a Russ Meyer starlet. The bleaker, artier or sleazier the better!
