10 Dangerous Movie Scenes You Won’t Believe Didn't Kill Anyone

9. Back To The Future III: Michael J Fox Is Lynched

It's not normal to want to see a man dying. If you think it is, you're not normal. And definitely nobody wants to see lovely Michael J Fox being hanged. He's lovely.

In one particular scene in the third instalment of the Back To The Future franchise Fox's character, Marty McFly, is put through the whole gauntlet of old west douchbaggery techniques. His feet are shot at forcing him to 'dance', he's lassoed and dragged by horse, and finally he's lynched.

There was a general displeasure from the director over the realism from Fox's performance so, being the pro Fox is, he volunteered to do the scene without standing on a box to keep him from actually - you know - dying.

Opting to use his hand to keep from actually choking, Fox didn't get it quite right and proceeded to be partly hanged. It took awhile before any of the crew realised he was in real danger and the life-threatening scene is the one used in the final cut of the film. Because nothing competes with realness, after all.
