3. The Blair Witch Project
How To Survive: Drop the damn camera and start running! The Blair Witch Project was
the found footage film that started the overblown trend, and innovative though it was, it also highlighted the inherent logical issues with the format, ones which most entries into the genre still succumb to. The main issue is the number of times viewers find themselves shouting at the screen, "Why are you still filming!? Dr0p the camera and get the **** out of there!". Even when the characters do run, they continue to film, less a commentary on our media-saturated society and more a cheap way to keep the film chugging along while trying to seem plausible, even if the very nature of a found footage film is pretty damn farcical itself. In reality, we'd all just throw the camera away anyway, so it's pretty much common sense.
