10 Dark Theories About Family Movies That Actually Make Sense

7. Coraline: The Occult, Illuminati Symbolism & Monarch Mind Control

Coraline is a pretty creepy kids’ film to start with but the paranoid minds over at conspiracy-obsessed website Vigilant Citizen have come up with a theory that makes it even creepier.

At face value, Coraline’s trip to the sinister Other World seems like a lesson in learning that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side but don your conspiracy-tinted glasses and you’ll find a suspicious amount of symbolism relating to the occult, the Illuminati and mind control lurking within the frames for a film purporting to be kid-friendly.

Firstly, there’s the Coraline doll itself which according to the tinfoil hat brigade represents Coraline’s alter persona or a disassociated illuminati minion that can be easily controlled. Then we have Other Mother or Beldam, an archaic word meaning hag which isn’t too far from the term ‘Grande Dame’ – a high-ranking female illuminati member who helps programme young illuminati slave minds. Hillary Clinton is one, apparently.

Throw in some one-eyed ghosts (obvs a nod to the Illuminati’s all-seeing eye), the triangular seeing stone Coraline uses to find their eyes (which is only the Illuminati’s favourite shape) and a couple of Baphomet head-shaped furniture in Other Mother’s house and you basically have more occult imagery than Eyes Wide Shut.

Could the acclaimed animation be a covert tool for programming young, impressionable minds or is this theory merely the ramblings of a paranoid hive mind? (It’s probably the latter.)
