10 DC Movie Deleted Scenes You Need To See
4. Suicide Squad: All Those Extra Joker Scenes
Jared Leto has had a rough ride since joining the DC Extended Universe as The Joker. First, many of his scenes were axed from Suicide Squad and soon he will have to complete with another actor in the same role.
Fortunately for him, much of the unused footage from Suicide Squad has turned up on the home media release and online, and it gives fans an idea of what makes his version of the Clown Prince of Crime tick.
The jettisoned scenes offer a deeper look at Mister J's toxic relationship with Harley Quinn and hint at the extent of the abuse he subjects her to. In one sequence, the torture session in the mental asylum goes on longer and is more unsettling to witness.
Suicide Squad pulled a few punches in its depiction of Joker and Harley's coupling in the cinematic cut, but the deleted footage proves director David Ayer originally planned to place a bigger emphasis on it.
Another deleted Joker scene, in which he beats a security guard to death for having the audacity to survive an explosion, highlights the sadism of Leto's character and portrays him closer to the comics.
