10 DC Villains Who Need Their Own Standalone Film

5. Mr Freeze

A common thread among many of the Batman villains earmarked for a standalone film is a tragic backstory or at least the potential for one in Joker's case. Mr Freeze is no exception; in fact, he may have the most tragic backstory of them all.

Since Batman: The Animated Series aired its iconic episode Heart Of Ice, the tragedy of Victor and Norah Fries has tugged on the heartstrings of any DC fan who's come across the formerly cheesy, ice-pun laden villain. A standalone movie would be the perfect apology to the character for Batman and Robin, and would create a comic book movie unlike any other in the process.

While Joker's descent came through neglect that was shown to him by society, Fries' is quite the opposite. His downfall comes from his desperate attempts to save the one he loves, creating an all the more chilling (pardon the pun) origin for another of Batman's most famous adversaries.
